Problem:
Error: "The database has not been configured to run background jobs." after installing Primavera 6.1 Standalone.

After installing Primavera Project Management 6.1 Standalone version and attempting to login, the following error is received:

"The database has not been configured to run background jobs.  To correct this problem, please contact your System Administrator or see the Primavera Administrator’s Guide……"

Version(s):
PM  6.1

Fix1:
NOTE:  This solution only applies to new Primavera 6.1 Standalone installations, not on machines that previously had Primavera 5.0 or Primavera 6.0 installed.

This issue is due to a missing DLL file in C:\WINDOWS\system32.  To resolve the issue above, please take the following steps:

  1. Stop the Primavera Background Agent windows service.

    Note:  Windows services are available by going to…Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.

  2. Locate and Open Primavera 6.1 CD1 and Browse to D:\install\database.

  3. Copy the dbexpsda.dll file from "CD1\install\database" to "C:\WINDOWS\system32"

  4. Restart the Primavera Background Agent windows service.

Fix2:
If Primavera 6.1 CD1 is not available, you can make a copy of the C:\WINDOWS\system32\dbexpsda30.dll file and rename it to dbexpsda.dll so both files now exist in C:\WINDOWS\system32.
