Problem: What’s is new in Project Management 6.2?
Problem: New features in Project Management 6.2?
Fix: The new features in 6.2 are detailed in the 6.2 application help (in the ‘What’s new in Project Management’ section).

The main changes are detailed below:

myprimavera has changed to Web Access

Used in the dialog boxes and fields of Project Management and Methodology Management modules, the term, myprimavera, was changed to Web Access.

Used in URLs, myprimavera is replaced by primaveraweb.

New password policy

Project Management 6.2 provides enhanced security through password enhancements that require passwords to be a minimum of 8 characters in length, including one alpha and one numeric character. Within the Admin Preferences dialog box, administrators can mark the Enable password policy checkbox to put the new password policy into effect, or they can leave the option unmarked and use the original password policy, which requires a password of up to 20 characters in length.

Licensing changes

The Licensing tab of the Users Dialog box provides a new license for P6 Web Services.

The Database Configuration dialog box provides a license summary. For information about the Database Configuration dialog box and related tasks, see the Primavera P6 Administrator’s Guide.

In the Contact and Systems tabs, after the license summary, there is new text that explains the types of licenses. Help > About

Scheduling feature supports float calculation for all opened projects

You can calculate activity float based on the finish date of all open projects, as well as per project.

The General tab of the Schedule Options dialog box supports the calculation of float paths for multiple open projects based on the finish date of the project, or for each, individual project.

The Advanced tab of the Schedule Options dialog box supports total float and free float calculations for multiple critical paths.

Updating baseline process includes expanded support for future period buckets

The process for updating project baselines has been enhanced to support updates to future period bucket planning in the baseline. Now, you can leverage update baseline functionality for projects that use future period bucket planning. Additionally, Primavera XML format supports future period buckets during import and export.

Microsoft Project 2007 support

You can now share project data between P6 6.2 and Microsoft Project 2007 over supported standard Microsoft formats. Although Microsoft retired earlier data formats, it supports XML. P6 6.2 allows for the import and export of data files created in the Microsoft Project XML format. The change to XML removes the earlier requirement of having MS Project installed on the same computer as P6 to share data.

MSP XML format enables projects to be shared between Primavera Project Management and Microsoft Project 2002 and subsequent versions.

MPP format supports the import of project data from Microsoft Project 2002 and 2003.

Import of summary projects and resource-only data to Primavera Project Management is supported in MPP format from Microsoft Project 2002 and 2003.

Continued support of the MPX format enables data to be shared between Primavera Project Management and other third-party applications.

MDB, MPD,and MPT files are no longer supported.

Support for export of project data to P6 v. 5.0 format

Using Primavera’s standard XER file format, you can export project data back to P6 v.5.0. During export, you can select the version of the export file, allowing for collaboration and data transfer between current and previous installations of P6.
